The Oklahoma State Department of Health offers licenses for medical marijuana growers, processors, and dispensaries.

The Difference Between These Three Categories is as Follows:

  • Commercial growers – Allowed to sell cannabis only to a licensed processor or retailer. There are no limits on how much pot a licensed grower can cultivate.
  • Processors – Can take cannabis plants and process or distill these plants into edibles, concentrates, and other forms of cannabis for consumer use. These individuals may sell their manufactured products to a licensed retailer or another licensed processor.
  • Dispensaries – Can sell medical marijuana or other cannabis-related products provided by licensed processors. Only medical marijuana patients and caregivers can purchase products at dispensaries.
APPLYING FOR A CANNABIS BUSINESS LICENSE

In order to apply for a business license for the formation of your cannabis business, applicants must meet a set of criteria by the Oklahoma State Department of Health.

The criteria for a cannabis business license application are as follows:
  • Applicants need to be at least 25 years of age
  • Applicants and other involved parties must be Oklahoma residents
  • If ownership consists of non-state residents, they cannot exceed 25 percent ownership
  • Applicants must be registered to run a business in the state
  • Applicants must disclose ownership
  • If an applicant has been convicted of a nonviolent felony in the last two years, any other felony in the past five years, or currently in prison are not eligible for a commercial grower’s license.
